The Vikings spread all through Europe, raiding , trading, and establishing colonies from Ireland to Russia. Their descendants- the Normans- conquered Sicily as well as England. Most people don't realize that the name, "Russia" comes from the "Rus", the Swedish Vikings who moved into Russia in the early 9th C. The primary weapon of the Vikings was the sword. All of their weapons received great care and attention, but the sword a man could wear all the time, always being armed and ready to defend himself. This sword is a replica of a type that was prevalent in the 9th C. The original is in a private collection, and is in excavated condition. When it was young and new, you can see that it was a very deadly weapon. Fast and sharp.
