This is the sword that started it all. The Claymore and the Broad Sword (both very famous weapons) were both made with the "hand-and-half" design in mind. This sword is the irish version and is believed to date from about 1500 AD. The Irish came up with some truly beautiful swords. Collectors often call this one "a truly lovely sword." The hilt is characteristically Irish, with the flaring "S" guard and usual Irish ring for the pommel. Although the description of this sword is accurate, it doesn't begin to tell of the speed, balance and feel of the weapon- quick and agile. The Irish warriors relied on speed and agility; it was only natural for their weapons to follow suit. A beautiful, deadly example of the Irish fighting mind.
